Oxime refers to an organic compound formed by the reaction of aldehydes and ketones containing carbonyl groups with hydroxylamine, with the general formula RC=NOH. Oxime formed from aldehydes is called aldoxime, and oxime formed from ketones is called ketoxime, and both can be hydrolyzed to obtain the original aldehyde or ketone. In addition, oxime can participate in many organic chemical reactions, such as the classic Beckmann rearrangement, which uses oxime as a substrate and rearranges under acidic conditions to generate amide (lactam) products.
