Poly PEG
Poly PEG or PEG polymer is a synthetic, hydrophilic, biocompatible polymer widely used in biomedicine and other fields. PEGs are water-soluble, non-toxic, FDA-approved, generally non-immunogenic, and frequently used in biomedical fields (bioconjugation, drug delivery, surface functionalization, and tissue engineering). PEG bioconjugation (also known as PEGylation) is the covalent conjugation of a drug target (e.g., peptide, protein, or oligonucleotide) to PEG for optimized pharmacokinetics. Linear PEGs are commonly used for PEGylation, bioconjugation, and crosslinking. Multi-arm PEGs (4-, 6-, 8-arm) can be crosslinked into hydrogels and scaffolds for drug delivery or tissue engineering. Y-shaped PEGs are commonly used for PEGylation because of their branched structure, which can improve in vivo stability.
