3-deaza-modified Nucleoside

3-Deaza modified nucleotides are chemically modified by replacing the nitrogen atom at position 3 of the purine ring of a nucleotide (such as adenine or guanine) with a carbon atom. This modification affects the chemical properties of the nucleotide and its function in nucleic acid drugs, especially in the fields of gene therapy, antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs) and RNA interference (RNAi).
