Dipyrromethene dyes, also known as BODIPYs (boron dipyrromethenes), are highly fluorescent dyes with attractive photophysical properties. They exhibit strong absorption and fluorescence in the visible and near-infrared regions, with large absorption coefficients, high fluorescence quantum yields, and fairly long singlet lifetimes.
