Valine and derivatives
Valine (Val) is an essential amino acid with the chemical formula C5H11NO2. It is one of the branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs). As an essential amino acid, valine cannot be synthesized in the human body and must be ingested through food. It is mainly found in protein-containing foods and participates in a variety of biological processes. It plays an important role in protein synthesis, energy metabolism, and immune system regulation. As a branched-chain amino acid, it plays a key role in muscle repair and growth. Derivatives of valine, such as α-ketoglutaric acid and ketone bodies, also have important functions in energy metabolism. Ensuring adequate intake of valine through diet is essential for maintaining good health, especially for athletes and heavy manual laborers.
