Amine
Amines are products in which one or more hydrogen atoms in an ammonia molecule are replaced by hydrocarbon groups. Replacing one, two or three hydrogen atoms in ammonia with organic groups produces primary amines, secondary amines or tertiary amines, respectively. Amines are widely found in the biological world, such as alkaloids, neurotransmitters, many hormones and histamine, and have extremely important physiological and biological activities. Industrially important amines include aniline and ethanolamine, which are used to make rubber, dyes, pharmaceuticals, synthetic resins and fibers, as well as many other applications.
