Doxorubicin impurity
Doxorubicin (Hydroxydaunorubicin) is a cytotoxic broad-spectrum anthracycline antibiotic commonly used as a tumor chemotherapeutic agent. Doxorubicin is fluorescent. Doxorubicin inhibits topoisomerase-II with an IC50 of 2.67 μM, thereby inhibiting DNA replication. Doxorubicin downregulates basal phosphorylation of AMPK and downstream acetyl-CoA carboxylase. Doxorubicin induces apoptosis and autophagy. Doxorubicin inhibits human DNA topoisomerase I with an IC50 of 0.8 μM.
