Phthalocyanine & Porphyrin Ligands

Phthalocyanine and porphyrin ligands are widely used in catalytic reactions, photocatalysis, materials science, biomedicine and other fields due to their unique electronic structure and good coordination ability. They can promote redox reactions, improve catalytic selectivity, enhance electron transport performance, and even be used in photodynamic therapy and other fields by coordinating with metal ions to form stable metal complexes. The main difference between the two is the difference in structure. Phthalocyanine is usually composed of benzene rings and is more used in the fields of optoelectronics and catalysis; while the four nitrogen atom ring structure of porphyrin makes it particularly important in biocatalysis and medical applications.
