They exhibit a variety of reactivities and can be used to synthesize various substituted benzimidazoles. Many benzimidazole derivatives have excellent electronic properties. They are often used to improve the performance of semiconductor materials. In small molecule semiconductors, benzimidazoles can improve charge transport properties and stability.
