Lyxoses
Lyxoses are aldopentoses (C5H10O5) and the C-2 epimers of xylose, available as D- and L-enantiomers. They are rare in nature and are used as chiral starting materials for nucleoside analogues and other rare sugars, and as substrates for studying sugar isomerases and other carbohydrate-processing enzymes.
